YBS Replacement Trial: Trial of EV buses to replace YBS routes begins in Yangon

The Yangon regional government has begun trialing electric buses (EV buses) to replace existing YBS buses.

Currently, two EV buses have been purchased with approval from the National Steering Committee for Development of Electric Vehicles and Associated Businesses. The plans aim to gradually increase EV bus usage, targeting 32% by 2030, 67% by 2040, and 100% by 2050. As of December 2025, Myanmar has over 5.5 million vehicles, but only around 27,000 are electric.
