Walking Thingyan: Preparations for Thingyan Festival in Yangon

In order to celebrate the Walking Thingyan resoundingly for 1387 Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival, preparations are underway at the designated areas in Yangon Region.

On Thursday, Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials inspected the construction of pavilions and preparations for Walking Thingyan. First, the Chief Minister and party inspected the pavilions construction at the site along Alon Road from U Wisara Roundabout to the corner of Pyay Road and Alone Road and installations of water spraying pipes for the festival.

There, the Chief Minister gave necessary instructions on the reports by the officials. At the People’s Square in Dagon Township, the Chief Minister and party oversaw the preparations of water splashing areas, entertainment stage construction and water sprinklers installations for walking Thingyan, ensuring to add traditional Thanakha culture during the festival.

The Chief Minister instructed on resistance of pavilions, security measure and work place safety. The Chief Minister and party later inspected the designated area in front of the City Hall in Kyauktada Township and Walking Thingyan preparations on MahaBandula Park Street, heard reports by the officials and gave necessary instructions.
