



Gubyaukgyi temple, located at Bagan ancient cultural heritage site in Nyaung-U township of Mandalay region, is a famous Buddhist temple built by Prince Yazakumar of Bagan dynasty in the early 13th century AD.
It is also a famous pilgrimage spot for Myanmar people where amazing ancient mural paintings, large array of frescoes, 28 Buddha images, floral paintings, the life of Buddha and 550 jātaka stories of Buddha can be studied with ink inscription.
There are sacred footprint of the Buddha and mural arts under the curvilinear roof of the entrance hall of Gubyaukgyi temple and also, 28 Buddha images, floral paintings, the life of Buddha and 550 jātaka stories of Buddha can be studied practically through inscription at the south and north walls of the entrance hall. On the western walls of the throne, there are paintings of ‘Māra’ demon king and his spirit warriors, and also floral designs, bird and leaves figurines on the arch of the vestibule.
At the Bagan UNESCO World Heritage site, Gubyaukgyi temple is one of the most significant and awe-inspiring archaeological place for domestic and foreign visitors, it’s learnt.
