









Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended a monsoon tree-planting ceremony on Friday, held as part of a public movement to green 13 districts in dry zones. The event took place at the Greening Complex along the Magway-Yenanchaung road. Officials, students, and local residents participated in the event.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of tree planting to combat climate change, reduce extreme heat, and prevent desertification. The Chief Minister urged the public to care for the planted trees to ensure their survival, as healthy forests are vital for the country’s environment, economy, and future.
Across 15 townships in Magway Region, over 17,000 trees were planted simultaneously, including 4,000 in Yenanchaung alone. Nationwide, more than 34,000 trees were planted in 13 districts of dry zone across Sagaing, Mandalay, and Magway regions. Tree species planted include tamarind, neem, cherry, mezali, and eucalyptus.
