Tree Planting Ceremony: Pre-Monsoon Season Tree Planting Held In Taunggyi

The pre-monsoon season tree planting ceremony was held at Loi Kham Housing in forest reserve of Taunggyi Township, Shan State (South) on 25th May.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Shan State Chief Minister Dr. Kyaw Tun said that 2022 pre-monsoon season tree planting ceremonies will be held in each township in Shan State. The 2.7 million seedlings of 56 species have been raised and those will be planted by the departments, military battalions and units and the public according to the plans to preserve Inlay Lake watershed area, to establish Kalaw as pine tree city and restoration of forests in Myanmar.  

Next, the chief minister handed over KhaTawMe seedling and pine seedlings to the departments and people and the state chief justice gave blue jacaranda seedlings to the members of Women’s Affairs Association and local ethnic people.

Then, the Chief Minister Dr. Kyaw Tun planted Cherry tree and the state chief justice and state ministers grew the trees and the chief minister and officials looked round the trees planting by the departments, NGOs, public and local ethnic people. During the ceremony, 212 blue jacaranda seedlings, 335 cherry trees and 76 pine trees were planted, it’s reported.
