The "Training of Trainers (TOT) on Analyzing Yield Gaps to Achieve Target Yields" was held on October 14 at the Agricultural Education and Rural Development Training School in Yezin, Zeyarthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.

In his opening address at the training course, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung stated that in efforts to develop the production of rice, the country's important food staple, the Ministry is managing and fulfilling the basic requirements of "Seeds, Land, Water, and Techniques," which are fundamental for increasing yield per acre rather than expanding cultivated acreage and for expanding multiple cropping acreage.

He also said that to increase crop yields, a management approach ensuring yield stability must be implemented through a method that prioritizes farmers' opportunities, education, health, and economic stability, rather than focusing solely on a single technology.

Subsequently, the Rector of Yezin Agricultural University, Dr. Theingi Myint, explained the purpose of opening the training course. Following this, the Union Minister visited the Tatkone Agricultural Research Farm and observed demonstrations of the powerful tilling capabilities of the Belarus-manufactured large tractors: the Belarys-451 (49.8 HP), Belarys-522 (62 HP), and Belarys-820 (81 HP). Responsible officials explained the quality of the large tractors and the conditions for their practical application in Myanmar's terrain.

It is reported that, based on the presentations, the Union Minister discussed and instructed the responsible officials to practically use the tractors in various water, land, and regional conditions, to continue studying the technical findings, and to manage the process of obtaining farmers' feedback on the machine's cost, performance, and usefulness.
