Thingyan Akya Day: Pandals crowded with revelers at the Water Festival

Myanmar celebrates Thingyan Water Festival from 13th to 16th April with the opening of pandals across the country.

On the Akya Day of Thingyan on 14th April, it is crowded with Thingyan revelers at the pandals in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.

At Nay Pyi Taw Mayor Pandal, artists, musicians and dance troupes from the ministries staged entertainments to the revelers with songs and dances.  Charity feasts are also treated to the performers and revelers.

At Yangon City Maha Thingyan Pandal, Thingyan songs and dances were entertained to the revelers by the artists, musicians and famous vocalists.

There are also competition of dance troupes and theatrical performance every night during Thingyan.  

In Mandalay, dance troupes performed to the revelers while artists and vocalists staged songs and dances.

Thingyan is a four-day-celebration for Myanmar Buddhists, and it is a time for people to learn from the past and to look for the future.

During Thingyan, people enjoy throwing water to each other to ward off the miss deeds of the previous year and to bring good lucks and prosperity for the coming new year.
