

Sudan's warring parties have signed an agreement for a seven-day ceasefire as fighting enters its sixth week. The ceasefire will take effect on May 22. The deal was announced Saturday by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia which sponsored ceasefire talks between Sudan’s army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The power struggle between Sudan’s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted into fighting on April 15. The conflict has killed hundreds of people, most of them civilians, and displaced more than one million.
