




On Tuesday, South Koreans celebrated "Squid Game" and its success at Monday night's Emmy Awards. The Netflix thriller became the first non-English TV series to win best actor drama and director at the annual awards.
Lee Jung-jae of “Squid Game,” who played the show's moral center, became the first Asian to win the Emmy for best drama series actor and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk won an Emmy for outstanding directing for the drama Series, the latest win for the Korean-language drama that became Netflix’s most-watched series ever.
Hwang said this was "a major moment for us,” and Lee said he expected the awards to open doors for other Asian actors.
