School Enrollment: Admission for basic education schools begin on May 26th

For the 2022-2023 academic year,the enrollment period for all basic education classes is scheduled from May 26thto June 1st. 

The Ministry is implementing the free of charge education system, providing free textbooks, exercise books and school uniforms to the enrolling students.

In Nay Pyi Taw, arrangements have been made for convenience of the students and parents who came for the enrollment. 

Myo Htet, High School Teacher, BEHS (1) Zeyathiri, Nay Pyi Taw said "This year, we will accept 5 years old children to KG class. We are accepting both old and new students ranging from KG to Grade 11, and the government is implementing the free of charge education system. This year, we will provide free text books and 6 exercise books to primary school students, and free text books and a dozen of exercise books to middle school and high school students. We will also provide free additional stationary items and school badges."

Moe Thandar, Student’s Parent, Nay Pyi Taw said "My son is going to attend Grade 11. The enrollment process is very fast and convenient. I would like to ask the parents who haven’t enrolled their children yet to enroll too. Some children are getting older year after year, and they would be too old to attend their appropriate classes. I would like the children to finish high school and get a university degree as soon as possible, so that, it will benefit them."

The Ministry of Education is implementing KG to Grade 12 education system, while Grade 8 and Grade 11 will be taught with new syllabus for the upcoming academic year.

Khin Mar Gyi, Student’s Parent, Nay Pyi Taw said "My son is going to attend Grade 11. We don’t have to pay any money for enrolling. We get free textbooks and books too. Upon converting the old syllabus to the new one, about 2 chapters are being added to each subject. Those added ones are very beneficial for the students."

In Yamethin Township of Mandalay Region, the enrollment ceremony was held at No. (5) Basic Education High School MyoMa, and the enrolling students are provided with free textbooks and a uniform each. It is learnt that there are a total of 247 basic education schools in Yamethin Township.

Student’s Parent, Yamethin Township said "I am very encouraged and uplifted to see the enrollment process today."

Likewise, the enrollment ceremony was held at No. (1) Basic Education High School in Loilem of Shan State. During the ceremony, stationery, COVID-19 preventive items and cash assistance and cash assistance were donated by the departments, organizations and individual donors. It is learnt that there are 149 basic education schools, 2 monastery schools and 2 private schools in Loilem.

At the same time, enrollment processes are made at the basic education schools in Kayin, Mon and Shan States, and Magway, Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions respectively.

It is also known that late enrollments caused by different reasons will be accepted too.
