Rule of Law : Chinese national arrested for illegal border entry in Muse

A Chinese national was arrested in Muse of Shan State, for illegally entering Myanmar. The man, identified as a 34-year-old from Sichuan Province, was detained at a security checkpoint in Kaungmutone Ward on April 9. According to his statement, he entered Myanmar through the border with assistance from contacts he met via a social media app.

He was later abandoned near the checkpoint while attempting to return to China. He is currently being held at Muse Police Station and is being charged under Myanmar’s immigration law.
