Relief Supplies: Provisions for flood-affected communities in Magway

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win, together with Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, visited temporary flood evacuation centres in Magway and Minbu on Sunday.

In Magway, they visited an evacuation centre at Myin Kin Village monastery, where 525 people from 127 households were sheltering. Rice provisions, canned fish and cash assistance of 30,000 kyats per eligible pregnant woman, child under five, elderly person aged 70 or above and person with disabilities were provided.

The Chief Minister also donated instant noodles, drinking water and eggs. They later visited the evacuation centres in Minbu and met with over 1,900 people from 489 households, providing food and cash assistance. They also stressed to have awareness on environmental protection, cleanliness, safe drinking water and precautions against snakes and other poisonous animals after residents return home.

The Union Minister and party also inspected floodwaters receding in Ward No. 3 of Minbu. The total value of assistance provided on 16 August exceeded 31.6 million kyats. Since July, more than 2.9 billion kyats worth of cash and relief items has been provided to flood victims in nine regions and states affected by flooding in July and August 2026.
