He emphasized that this law is not new, citing its origin in the 1959 Public Military Service Law, which was later amended in 2010.

The law comprises 8 chapters and sets specific age ranges for military service, with durations ranging from 24 to 36 months.Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun underscored the constitutional basis for the law, referencing sections that grant the Defense Services the right to involve the entire population in Union security and defense. He highlighted the importance of the law in the context of national security and defense, stating that its enforcement could contribute to halting conflicts, strengthening the defense force, and enhancing public awareness of defense and security matters.

Moreover, he noted that this initiative aligns with international practices, as 18 countries worldwide enforce compulsory military service.

The Maj-Gen stressed that implementing the law would not only foster military-civil relations but also contribute to the balanced development of both defense and economic sectors. He emphasized the potential for the country to advance in military science and technology, achieve unity among the people, and enhance national solidarity.
