






Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung attended a meeting, presentation, and field demonstration at the Institutes of Agriculture and Livestock in Patheingyi Township, Aungmyaythasan District on August 5. The event focused on the development of the agricultural sector and achieving target yields for key crops in the Mandalay Region. It also included the handover of drum seeders.
At the ceremony, the Chief Minister gave an opening address, stating that using a drum seeder for planting offers many benefits, such as reducing the need for manual labor, saving time by speeding up work, lowering seed costs and overall cultivation expenses, and ensuring a better germination rate. He said that by enthusiastically and confidently transitioning from traditional farming to modern mechanized farming, and by systematically utilizing high-quality seeds, soil, water, and techniques, farmers can increase crop yields and meet their production goals.
Following this, the principal of the Agriculture and Livestock Institute explained the history of the institute, its curriculum, its current agricultural and livestock activities, and its needs.
Afterward, the Chief Minister, Region Ministers and officials presented drum seeders and sacks of sunn hemp to farmers from Patheingyi and Madaya townships. They also presented an MRTV DTH, an MRTV DVB T-2 Set Top Box, a 50-inch Smart TV, and sports equipment to the principal and students of the institute. One of the farmers then presented words of thanks.
The Chief Minister concluded the ceremony with a final address, warmly greeting and encouraging attendees. He then observed a field demonstration of planting monsoon paddy with the drum seeder, a demonstration of the step-by-step process of making Bocashi natural compost, and the method of broadcasting a mixture of three parts natural compost with one part urea fertilizer in a paddy field. He then presented a drum seeder to the principal of the institute.
The Chief Minister and officials then paid homage to Dr. Bhaddanta Jotika, the Presiding Sayadaw of U-Yin Pariyatti Monastery at the foot of Yankin Hill in Patheingyi Township. They offered donations, discussed religious matters, and received sermon.
