







Aiming to conduct joint ventures with local and foreign investors, proposals and related documents for the No. 21 large-scale factory (Thaton) which is located in Thaton Township of Mon State and No. 31 large-scale cement factory (Thayet) in Thayet Township of Magway Region must be submitted by September 7.
Than Zaw Htay, Managing Director, No. 2 Heavy Industries Enterprise said "No. 21 large-scale factory (Thaton) started operating in 1985 and in 2016, the unit cost became high due to the technology and inputs in the market. The factory was suspended in August 2016. Even though it’s suspended, the Government still pays salary to the employees."
In accordance with the market economy, the proposals are invited for long-term joint venture to improve the private sector, to transfer the technology and to reduce the cost for the employees’ salaries and the burden on the country.
Than Zaw Htay, Managing Director, No. 2 Heavy Industries Enterprise said "No. 31 large-scale cement factory (Thayet) has been operating since 1935. When it was state-owned factory, 1,100 tons of cement per day were produced using the coal. Currently, we are inviting for those who can invest for producing 2,000 to 5,000 tons of cement per day."
Proposals invitation takes 1 month until September 7. The joint ventures will be chosen based on their interest, financial and technical aspects and will be verified whether they can be a reliable partner or not for investments. Proposals will be scrutinized and will be submitted to the Ministry of Industry and State Administration Council for approval.
