




In the afternoon of April 6, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Myanmar, Ms. Ma Jia, paid a courtesy call on the President-elect of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, at the reception hall of the Office of the Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, SSPC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed his pleasure in receiving the Ambassador, noting that she was the first foreign diplomat to visit him following the announcement of his election as President. He also expressed his profound gratitude to the President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, for sending a congratulatory message within hours of his election.
He stated his appreciation, highlighting that this gesture demonstrated China's support for Myanmar's political transition as a good and neighboring friend. Subsequently, the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar expressed her congratulations and pride regarding His Excellency's election as President. She thanked him for his continuous efforts in fostering good relations between Myanmar and China.
She expressed her confidence that, under his leadership, Myanmar will become a peaceful, stable, and developed nation, and she conveyed her belief that bilateral cooperation between the two countries will further improve. Following this, they engaged in a cordial discussion on several key topics, including enhancing diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two nations, promoting cooperation in security and various other sectors, ensuring peace and stability in the border regions of both countries, reopening trade routes and resuming bilateral trade and commerce, the current situation regarding China's ongoing assistance and participation in the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts following the damages caused by the powerful Mandalay earthquake.
Afterward, the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar personally handed over the congratulatory message sent by Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping to the President-elect and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
