






A ceremony to inaugurate the Sittwe City Gateway, held in commemoration of the 81st Armed Forces Day, took place in front of the gateway on the morning of March 25th. The event was attended by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin and his wife, State Hluttaw Speaker Dr. San Shwe, Commander of West Command Ma-J Gen. Kyaw Zaw Oo, Chief Justice of the State High Court, Deputy Speaker of the State Hluttaw, members of the State Government and their spouses, senior military officers from Sittwe Station, State Hluttaw representatives, departmental officials, town elders, local residents, teachers, students, and invited guests.
First, the gateway inauguration ceremony commenced with the playing of traditional Rakhine drums. Director U Kyaw Moe of the Rakhine State Development Affairs Committee explained the details of the gateway construction project. Subsequently, town elder U Than Shwe expressed gratitude regarding the construction of the new city gateway.
Following this, the State Minister for Security and Border Affairs, the State Minister for Transportation and Communications, State Hluttaw representatives, and town elder U Than Shwe cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the Sittwe City Gateway.
Afterwards, the State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, the State Hluttaw Speaker, and the Commander pressed the button to officially unveil the city gateway.
Then, the State Chief Minister, State Hluttaw Speaker, Commander, and responsible officials sprinkled scented water on the commemorative plaque marking the construction of the city gateway.
Subsequently, the State Chief Minister and wife and responsible officials presented cash of honor to the Rakhine cultural troupes, Pom Pom Dance groups, aerobic dance teams, sports trainees, from basic education schools and traditional Rakhine drum troupes who performed at the Sittwe City Gateway inauguration ceremony.
Then, the State Chief Minister and party inspected the Sittwe City Gateway and cordially greeted those who had attended the inauguration ceremony, it’s reported.
