Official: Chinese leadership receives COVID jabs

A top Chinese official confirmed Saturday that China's "state leaders" had received COVID-19 vaccinations.

The Deputy Head of National Health Commission; Zeng Yixin stated during a news conference that the officials had "all taken the domestically made vaccines." Although details of the exact date and name of vaccine issued weren't given, Zeng stressed the move showed the belief that China's leaders had in their self-developed vaccines and the importance of being vaccinated against COVID-19.

At the conference on Saturday, Zeng also stressed the importance of the population getting vaccinated, especially for the elderly.71 percent of the population in the mainland have received booster shots but only 67 percent of the people over 60 have received boosters.
