A Note by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to the UN personnel to demonstrate professionalism is issued.

The note said that it is observed that the Office of the Spokesperson of the Secretary-General of the United Nations frequently mentioned Myanmar in its daily briefings and is selectively targeting a country while there is no major incident which needs attention from the international community.

It referred to the reports from the country office in Yangon with exaggerated numbers and figures which are not verifiable. While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is cooperating with the UN country team in Yangon on several occasions, the concerns of the UN country team were never channeled to and verified with the Ministry.

Instead, it went to the Office of the Spokesperson for making public statements which raises serious question about the professionalism of the UN personnel. The Ministry, therefore, calls the concerned UN personnel to refrain from making misleading statements, interfering in the internal affairs of the country and urges them to demonstrate integrity, independence and impartiality in making public releases.
