Monsoon Tree Planting: SG & Wife Attend Tree Planting Ceremony In NPT

Families of the office of the Commander-in-Chief(Army, Navy and Air) and the respective military commands has been holding the annual monsoon tree planting ceremonies since 2011 with the aim for the natural environment conservation and supporting the climate and the shade as well as the state’s economy on the other hand.

On Thursday, the 1st monsoon tree planting ceremony of the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) 2022 was held near Yezin dam in Nay Pyi Taw Zeya Thiri Township.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended and gave a speech, saying that the monsoon tree planting ceremonies have been held since 2011 and the ceremony could be organized in 2021 because of COVID-19 pandemic. Tatmadaw holds the tree planting ceremonies, aiming for the sustainable development of forest resources, preserving eco-system and participating of people in the activities of forest conservation.

Myanmar is a developing country and it still uses fire woods and charcols as fuel. About 70 percent of the nation population live in rural areas and they use mainly the fire-wood. To reduce relying on the natural forests, it has instructed to establish at least 2-acre of firewood plantations in a village of regions and states. He also added that the tree planting and conservation can benefit a lot not only for them but also for the new generation. Later, the Senior General and wife planted teak saplings.

SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife, Union Ministers, senior military officers and their wives and Tatmadaw officers, other ranks and families planted the trees at the designated places. After that, the Senior General and wife and party encouraged planting the trees by officers, other ranks and families. A total of 4,304 saplings of teaks, Gun-kino and shady trees were planted at the ceremony.

The families of the Commander-in-Chief Office planted a total of 172,749 teak, perennial and shady trees from 2011 to 2022. Likewise, a total of over 216,000 trees have been planted at the respective military commands on 2nd June.
