Memorial Martyrs’ Day: Bogyoke Aung San Museum Opened Free For Public

BogyokeAung San Museum opened for public on Tuesday, the 75th Anniversary Martyrs’ day. The museum displays the General Aung San’s memories inside and outside of the building.

Martyrs' Dayis one of the most significant days in Myanmar history and is a memorial day for Myanmar people. It commemorates to honor fallen national heroes including General Aung San and 8 others who sacrificed their liveson July 19 in 1947within the country independence movement.

Thi Thaung, Assistant Director, National Museum said “We displays the video files of General Aung San including his  funeral, museum documentaries, Bogyoke’s activities and speeches on the mobile LED at the entrance of the museum.Also we display 15 posters concerning General Aung San from the Defense Services Museum. As the special exhibition, there are display about General’s life events in both English and Myanmar languages.The General’s speeches are displayed on a touch screen and all people can read and touch on it. In the living room, we display the painting of General Aung San, illustrating he is doing agriculture. At the right side of the stair, visitors can see a hologram of General Aung San.”

In the park of the Museum’s area, the visitors can see the statue of General Aung San doing agriculture. There isa beautiful landscaping that has been carried out in cooperation with the Yangon City Development Committee, she added.

Kyi Htay, Visitor, North Okkalapa Township said “This is my first visiting to Bogyoke Aung San Museum. I love General Aung San and I miss him very much. That’s why, I keep a lot of currencies with Bogyoke pictures. Like the General, I love to eat boiled beans and Nan Pyar very much. In the museum, I saw the places of General’s family lifestyle, his clothes and his memorable things. I’m very glad to visit here, Bogyoke Aung San Museum.”

The BogyokeAung San Museum (Yangon) was the residence of General Aung San and his family just before his assassination in July 1947 and it is also a place where his memory is preserved. The Museum is opened free for public with a special exhibition on the 19th July, Martyr’s day.
