Meeting with local residents: Sagaing Region CM met with locals in Leshi Township

Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, accompanied by relevant officials, on May 6, attended a meeting held in the meeting hall of the Township Administrative office of Leshi Township in Naga Self-Administered Zone. The meeting brought together representatives from various departments, town elders, and members of Naga literature and cultural associations.

First, Chairman of the Leshi Township Administrative Body U Win Maung, presented a PowerPoint presentation outlining local information and the current status of development projects being implemented in the township.

This was followed by town elders and members of the Naga literature and culture groups presenting their perspectives on the ongoing development efforts in Leshi and their expectations for further improvements.

Representatives from regional-level departments and members of the Sagaing Region Government provided explanations regarding the development work that their respective departments are carrying out in the Naga region.

Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw then addressed the attendees, emphasizing that regional stability and peace are essential for successful development, which in turn improves the standard of living. He affirmed that the regional government would continue cooperating with responsible departments to support the Naga region in areas such as transportation, education, healthcare, agriculture, livestock, and MSME development. He also committed to addressing the concerns raised by the town elders through collaboration with relevant authorities.

Following the meeting, the Chief Minister, along with the Regional Government Secretary and the Regional Education Officer, presented financial assistance of 1 million kyats each to township staff, security personnel, and Naga cultural groups.

Later, the Chief Minister and officials visited the Leshi Township People’s Hospital, where they provided nutritional supplements to hospitalized local residents. A donation of 1 million kyats was also presented to the hospital superintendent, doctors, and nurses.

They, then visited the students preparing for matriculation exams at Leshi High School and Tamathi Village High School in Homlin Township. The Chief Minister encouraged the students and presented food allowances, printed textbooks, and stationeries to the headmistresses.

In the afternoon, the Chief Minister and officials attended a fish release ceremony in Tamathi Village, Homlin Township. The event, aimed at promoting fish consumption and biodiversity, involved releasing 50,000 fingerlings into the Chindwin River.
