The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that Myanma Railways will operate additional special trains during the Thingyan holidays to help travelers and government staff travel comfortably. Special trains will run on the Yangon – Nay Pyi Taw – Yangon, Yangon – Pyay – Yangon and Yangon – Mawlamyine – Yangon routes on selected dates in April.
Tickets for special trains can be purchased at stations or online in advance, with 3 days ahead for Upper Class and 1 day ahead for Ordinary Class. Online system allows 7 days advance for start and end stations, 3 days for intermediate stations.
Some regular express and passenger trains will be temporarily suspended from April 13 to 16, and Yangon circular trains will also stop temporarily during this period. All trains will resume normal service from April 17. Additionally, scenic trains like Pyin Oo Lwin – Goteik and Taunggyi – Pawmu will operate for travelers who wish to ride during the holiday.
