Meeting to Elect a Vice-President: Group of DSP Hluttaw Reps. held meeting to elect VP

In accordance with the laws and by-laws concerning the election of the President and Vice Presidents, the group of Defence Services Personnel Hluttaw representatives held a meeting to elect a Vice President in the morning of March 31st at the Sinphyushin Hall in the Transit Camp in Nay Pyi Taw.

At the meeting, the Chairman, Major Genenral Ye Kyaw Thu, clarified the relevant laws, by-laws and procedures pertaining to the election of the Vice President. The group of Defence Services Personnel Hluttaw representatives then submitted nomination forms to the Chairman via the master of ceremonies to facilitate the election of a Vice President.

During the process, Defence Services Personnel Amyotha Hluttaw representative Major General Kyaw Thu Ya Aye nominated U Nyo Saw (Pyithu Hluttaw representative of Kokokyun constituency) as the Vice President to be elected by the group of Defence Services Personnel Hluttaw representatives. The nomination was seconded by Defence Services Personnel Pyithu Hluttaw representative Brigadier General Soe Nyunt.

As there were no objections to this nomination, U Nyo Saw (Pyithu Hluttaw representative of Kokokyun constituency) was confirmed as the Vice President elected by the group of Defence Services Personnel Hluttaw representatives. The Chairman will submit and forward the nomination to the Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, it’s reported.
