Mass testing in China cities hit by virus outbreak

Over 200 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the southwestern Chinese city Chengdu on Friday as the city ordered its 21 million residents to stay at home.

Rounds of mass testing started from late Thursday and are scheduled to last until Sunday to screen for potential positive cases, the city government said in an announcement.

Another over 100 cases was confirmed on Thursday in the northeastern city of Dalian with a population of six million, according to the local health authority.

The lockdown in Dalian began on Tuesday and is due to finish on the weekend.
