Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing also inspected Thilawa Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone between the Yangon River and Hmawwun Creek in Kyauktan Township of Yangon Region on Wednesday.
Officials reported on the functions of Thilawa Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone, 26-Mile Multi-purpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone and Shwemuyin fish farm in Twante Township, work progress and the implementation. After hearing the reports, the Senior General discussed the functions of agricultural and livestock breeding zones are for ensuring food sufficiency of meat, fish, seasonal fruits and vegetables in Yangon Region. Systematic management is necessary to make livestock farming a role model in the long-term plan.
Research is also required on hatching to obtain good pedigrees in livestock breeding. In livestock breeding undertakings, regional self-sufficiency must be prioritized and then surpluses are to be exported as frozen meat and finished products. As the country has to import milk and dairy products, local cow farms should try to manufacture dairy products successfully for import-substitute products.
Those operating the agricultural tasks need to understand the market demand and they need to cultivate the marketable and seasonal crops. They have to know manageable and commercial farming tasks and consider continuous production. In order to prevent natural disasters, local people should grow more coconut in the coastal areas.
Similarly, techniques and quality strains must be distributed to the local people from the respective zones to emerge the modern, systematic agriculture and livestock farms so that the consumers could buy meat, fish and agricultural products at affordable prices.
The Senior General also inspected the sample fish, duck eggs, Taiwan papaya species, jade Phigyan banana species, dairy products and coconut products and later viewed the fish farming and duck farming.
