


Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said he received a condolence phone call from US President Joe Biden on Saturday, following the fatal shooting of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
During the phone call, Biden noted that Abe had been an outstanding leader who had had a great influence on the deepening of US-Japan ties. The Japanese leader added that he would strive to carry on Abe's legacy.
On Saturday, a hearse carrying the body of Shinzo Abe arrived at the assassinated former Japanese prime minister's home in Tokyo. Abe was assassinated Friday on a street in western Japan by a gunman who opened fire on him from behind as he delivered a campaign speech.
