









Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, currently in Putao to promote regional development and edible oil self-sufficiency in northern Myanmar's Putao District by boosting multiple cropping capacity, inspected the condition of 180 acres of monsoon paddy cultivated out of a total area of 720 acres in Palana Field, Ziaun Village Tract, Wednesday morning, and held discussions regarding the cultivation of winter double-crop mustard oilseed in those paddy fields.
Afterward, the State Chief Minister and party visited Lonsut Ward to inspect the fish farming conditions across three ponds owned by Daw Hpon Zee, who expanded from family-scale breeding to commercial operations using initial support from the State Economic Promotion Fund. They coordinated efforts to help excavate additional fish ponds and provide fingerlings and feed, while also observing and offering encouragement for small-scale purified water production and sales.
Following this, a coordination meeting on state economic promotion and food security was held at the District General Administration Department meeting hall with district-level departments and local farmers. Chief Minister coordinated State ministers, departmental officials with farmers to address and fulfill the necessary requirements.
Subsequently, the State Chief Minister and State Ministers presented approved funding of 50 million kyats to a cooperative group for breeding 196 local pigs in Ma Me She De Village, and 20 million kyats to the dam and bank protection repair committee of Auk Sangaung Village. The State Chief Minister then provided necessary guidance and instructions.
From there, the State Chief Minister attended the winter double-crop mustard seed distribution event aimed at improving edible oil self-sufficiency under the 2026–2027 Kachin State Government initiative and a seed production field demonstration on removing off-types at the model monsoon paddy field in Matpan Field, Putao, where he delivered opening remarks.
Next, the State Chief Minister and State Ministers distributed free mustard oilseeds to farmers for over 1,696 acres across 16 wards and villages expanding mustard cultivation in the township. Together with local farmers, they observed the field demonstration on removing off-types in seed production monsoon paddy fields and enjoyed performances by entertainment troupes.
Thereafter, they inspected the operation of the 18-tonne upgraded rice mill owned by the "San" Agricultural and General Business Cooperative Association which is the only one in Putao supported by the State Economic Promotion Fund in Lonsut Ward. They inquired about daily mill capacity and coordinated with department officials to fulfill required needs.
