Italy's health minister said a two-day meeting of his G-20 counterparts yielded resolve to help poor nations obtain more COVID-19 vaccines.

Stronger nations including the G-20 countries, are committing resources and sending vaccines to the more vulnerable countries, the minister said.  He added that efforts like COVAX, a U.N.-backed effort to share coronavirus vaccines, need to be strengthened.

The Italian minister also announced that from September a third dose of vaccine will be administered to the most vulnerable categories of people such as cancer patients. Italy currently holds the rotating G-20 presidency.
