e-ID system Implementation: Meeting on collection Biometric Data was held

A coordination meeting on the work programs to be carried out for collecting Biometric Data from the government staffs in the respective ministries and departments in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area that is one of the work programs of e-ID system was held at the Ministry of Immigration and Population on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing said that in implementing e-ID system, the Biographic Data and Biometric Data of the citizens aged (10) years and above residing in the nation, Associate citizens, naturalized citizens, those who get Permanent Residence Permit (PR) and foreigner Registration Certificate (FRC) will be collected and stored them in the database to register a Unique ID (10 digits).

The Committees are also being formed to purchase the necessary equipment for the e-ID system. Now, more than 52 million Naing-4 data that is the Biographic Data of respective regions/states and more than 13 million (66/6) household lists have been put into the Database Server and arrangement will be made to collect the Biometric Data according to the process.

Later, Secretary of the e-ID system Work Committee and an official reported on implementation of e-ID system and future work programs, plan to collect the Biometric Data of the civil servants from the respective departments and ministries in Union Territory (Nay Pyi Taw) and measures to be carried out by respective departments.

In response to the reports, the Union Minister and officials coordinated essentials. The e-ID system is to store the Biographic Data and the Biometric Data in the database in order to issue a Unique ID number and the Biometric Data will be collected from departmental staff in Union Territory (Nay Pyi Taw) starting from November 14th and  later, it will be collected at designated townships in various regions and states.
