






High temperatures and drought on Saturday continued to affect large swaths of southern China in the country's driest summer in six decades. Drought conditions have "significantly increased," the national weather agency said Saturday.
It forecast high temperatures and no rain for at least three more days from Jiangsu and Anhui provinces northwest of Shanghai, through Chongqing and Sichuan provinces to the east of Tibet.
Trucks have been sent to deliver water to residents and livestock, as well as helping irrigate farms with water hoses, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
