On Monday morning, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, along with region ministers and officials, visited a distribution point in Tamote Soe village tract.
They observed the direct distribution of locally produced diesel via fuel tankers to farmers with remaining summer paddy acreage in Amarapura District. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and the Mandalay Region Government.
During the visit, Chief Minister U Myo Aung met with farmers and departmental officials. He stated that while fuel challenges are being felt globally, the State is systematically implementing various methods to minimize the impact of fuel shortages within Myanmar.
He emphasized that the government is striving to provide essential inputs such as irrigation water, fuel, and fertilizers through various means for the farmers who are ensuring national food security. He explained that to ensure 100% of the summer paddy targets are met, diesel is being sold directly to farmers for cash at a rate of one gallon per acre to assist with land preparation for the remaining unsown acreage.
Following his speech, the Chief Minister and officials inspected the distribution process. For the 750 remaining acres of summer paddy land preparation in Amarapura District for the 2025-2026 season, 750 gallons of locally produced diesel were sold directly to farmers at the subsidized rate of 10,000 Kyats per gallon.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to closely supervise the process to ensure convenience for farmers during the purchase. He also coordinated necessary requirements and observed the application of agricultural inputs within the summer paddy fields, it’s reported.
