Opening ceremony of Myanmar Disaster Response Team Training Course No.1/2021 was held on Monday at Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the Ceremony, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khine said that in-person training is more effective than online training. Due to the declining rate of COVID-19 pandemic, the training is open in person in accordance with the COVID-19 rules. The formation and training of Myanmar Disaster Response Team is the most important of the three steps to be taken.
Disasters are difficult to predict and the government and the private sector need to work together to strengthen and sustain disaster risk reduction. She added that the training was intended to be implemented in other ASEAN countries as a model, so it’s necessary for all to make efforts in their respective roles. Deputy Minister U Aung Tun Khaing explained the curriculum of the training which is based on the ASEAN-Emergency Response and Assessment Team.
