Union Government Meeting : President gives speech in Nay Pyi Taw

President U Min Aung Hlaing addressed the Union Government meeting at the Union Government Meeting Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on August 25.

In his speech, the President stated that during August, he visited Thailand, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Belarus at the invitation. During these trips, successful discussions were conducted across multiple sectors including border security, stability, peace, strengthening friendship and bilateral relations, trade, economy, investment, education, electric power, science and technology, space technology, defence, and industrial development.

He emphasized the need to combine the strengths of neighboring and regional partner countries with Myanmar's own capabilities to effectively advance the interests of the state and its citizens. He noted that reliance on foreign grants and loans is unsustainable, and that the nation must rely on internal capabilities to boost domestic production and drive economic growth.

He highlighted that developing skilled human resources is an essential requirement for national economic development. Regarding agricultural and livestock products, he mentioned that significant demand exists in neighboring and regional markets; meeting this demand through effective production would substantially aid economic progress.

He added that the government is employing the best possible strategies to overcome ongoing political and economic sanctions, and stressed the importance of conducting all import and export trade honestly and transparently. Following this, Union Ministers and Region/State Chief Ministers presented reports on their respective sectors.

In his closing remarks, the President noted that flooding is occurring in certain regions due to the monsoon season, urging municipal committees and urban residents to cooperate in preventing local floods. He also reiterated the government's commitment to improving the education sector, stating that comprehensive and systematic progress requires full collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and administrative authorities. Finally, he stated that the nation is advancing toward a multiparty democratic system based on federalism.
