Development Projects: Over 120 Billion Worth Projects Signed in Nay Pyi Taw

Myanmar and Japan signed the Exchange of Notes for four projects which will be implemented with the loan worth over 120 billion Yen in Nay Pyi Taw on 21st January.

It includes Sewerage System Development, Urban Development, Power Distribution Improvement, and Infrastructure Improvement in States and Region.

Yangon Sewerage System Development Project will be implemented with over 45 billion funds to renovate waste water treatment plants, to construct sewer pipes and to improve the living environment of local residents in the central business district of Yangon.

The Urban Development Project for the reduction of traffic congestion and the damages affected by the flood in Yangon will help improve drainage, take measures against traffic congestion at level crossings on main roads and Yangon Circular Railway Road. The maximum amount of the project is 24 billion Yens.

The Power Distribution Improvement Project in Yangon and Mandalay will be implemented with over 12 billion Yens. This project will repair and expand the electricity distribution network to improve the power supply in Yangon and Mandalay.

The Regional Infrastructure Improvement Project in Chin, Rakhine, Mon and Kayin States and Taninthayi Region will help improve the lives of local residents through new construction, renovation and installation of basic infrastructure necessary. 70 sub-projects will be implemented with the maximum amount over 38.6 billion Yens.

These projects are part of the implementation of the commitment of 800 billion Yen private-public assistance, which Prime Minister Shinzo ​Abe stated during the meeting with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in November 2016, within five years.
