
Under the management of the Tanintharyi Region Government, the Department of Information and Public Relations and the Department of Education jointly organized a festival to promote the development of libraries and reading habit.
The awards ceremony was held at the Pyinnya Beikman Hall of Basic Education High School (3) in Dawei on August 6. First, students and teachers from Basic Education High School (3) performed songs and dances. During the ceremony, Chief Minister of the Region, U Myat Ko, stated that holding festivals like this to develop libraries and promote reading culture is an essential effort to nurture human resources for the country's development.
He emphasized the need to develop good human resources with a comprehensive knowledge base, not only from academic studies but also from the knowledge gained through reading. Following this, Chief Minister U Myat Ko presented honorary awards to the writers Nu Hnin Thit and Uncle Pyinnyar.
He also presented awards to five students who won the impromptu speech competition (high school level). The Chief Judge of the Regional High Court, presented awards to five students who won the essay writing competition (high school level).
Next, the region ministers presented awards to the remaining winning students and gave honorary gifts to all the participating students. Afterward, the Tanintharyi Region Women's Affairs Committee and the Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee donated books to the library of Basic Education High School No (3). Daw Mala Win, CEO (Co-Founder) of Teacher Moe Di Pyinnya Shwe Pyi Company Limited, donated 1 million kyats to the school library, 1 million kyats to the "Perpetual Fund" for self-reliant village libraries in Tanintharyi Region, and 1 million kyats to the “Perpetual Fund “for the Dawei District Office library.
Officials accepted the donations. Finally, a winning student gave a demonstration based on the competition topics. The ceremony concluded successfully with students from Teacher Moe Di Pyinnya Shwe Pyi Private High School performing the song "Let's Strive for Comprehensive Education" with their own musical accompaniment.
