





To increase bank investments in agriculture, livestock breeding, industry and MSME enterprises, the Central Bank of Myanmar held a work coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Dr. Khin Naing Oo underscored the purpose of the meeting which is to encourage the better engagement of the banks in nation’s priority sectors: agriculture, livestock breeding, industry and MSME enterprises.
She added that the sustainable development of nation’s economy sector depends on domestic manufacturing and export acceleration and MSME development. She highlighted that effectively channeling the deposits accumulated by the public into investment and manufacturing sectors is one of the key functions of banking sector.
While increasing loans to priority sectors, it is essential to monitor the repayment capacity by systematic practice of Credit Underwriting Standards, Credit Administration processes, Credit Risk Assessments, and continuous strengthening of Credit Monitoring activities.
The governor stressed to enable more effective and convenient loan disbursement to priority sectors starting current financial year. The attendees then presented reports on difficulties encountered and further collaborative activities.
