Construction on Yichun West Station, China's northernmost high-speed railway station, officially started on Wednesday in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
The station is on the Tieli-Yichun section of a high-speed rail line linking Harbin city and Yichun city, with a total length of 111.4 kilometers and a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
Yichun West Railway Station is currently the highest-latitude Railway Station under construction in China.
The region where it is located has the greatest annual temperature difference in China. It is also the first high-speed railway station house with the construction based on the layers of frozen soil in alpine areas.
After the completion of the whole rail line, a high-speed railway trip between Harbin and Yichun will take around two hours, instead of the current seven hours.
