Condition of Depression: DMH reported depression over North Andaman Sea

Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (Myanmar) reported Well-Marked Low Pressure Area Condition over North Andaman Sea and adjoining Gulf of Mottama, Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

According to observations taken at 12:30 p.m. Myanmar Standard Time today, the well-marked low-pressure area over the northern Andaman Sea and the adjoining Gulf of Mottama and Mon-Tanintharyi coastal areas of Myanmar has moved northwestward and intensified into a depression.

The depression is currently centered over the sea approximately 50 nautical miles south of Mawlamyine, about 95 nautical miles southeast of Thone-gwa, and approximately 120 nautical miles south-southeast of Bago.

As the depression is likely to cross near the Gulf of Mottama, its current condition has been classified as Red Alert.

The depression is expected to move northwestward and intensify into a deep depression within the next 12 hours. It may cross between Thone-gwa in Yangon Region and Kyaikto in Mon State. Thereafter, it is forecast to continue moving northwestward over the following 36 hours and may cross Yangon Region, Bago Region and Magway Region.
