Academic Tour: President visits universities in Yangon

President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by concerned officials, on Sunday visited the Dagon University Railway Station in Yangon Region. Chief Minister and officials reported on the status of chosen site for YBS Bus terminal, pedestrian and paving concrete road along Major Ba Htoo Road, and plans for traffic safety measures.

Upon the report, the President instructed to ensure the strength of foundation and road safety for the students. He also added that it is necessary to arrange the YBS arrival and departure time harmonizing with the class schedules of the University. The President later observed the compound of Station Yard and instructed the necessaries.

At the meeting room of Convocation Hall, the Union Minister for Education and the Rector presented the tasks and necesaries of University and status of teaching subjects in which the President gave necessary guidance. Then, the President observed the maintenance of Convocation Hall and University Sport Ground.

The President and party latr proceeded to the University of Medicine (1) and inspected the construction site of Multi Purpose Assembly Hall in the university compound. The Union Ministers and officials presented the progress of the construction. The President then stressed to construct the facility systematically to become a modern turtle-shell design, preserving its original style.

Also, he added that the sound control system is needed for it because the facility is beside the Pyay Road, the busiest way. At the briefing hall of Yangon University (Hlaing), the Director General of Higher Education Department and officials presented the brief of Hlaing Campus areas, conditions of lecture rooms, hostels, theaters and necessaries.

After hearing the reports, the President stressed the integration of Hlaing and Kamayut campuses to conduct administrative works and lecturing issues more quickly and smoothly. He also outlined to expand the teaching infrastructures depending on the students' enrollment for each major subjects. Later, the President observed theaters, lecture rooms, departments, libraries and hostels in Yangon University (Hlaing Campus) and instructed the necessaries.
