Commemorative Event : World Tourism Day commemorated in Nay Pyi Taw

A commemorative ceremony marking World Tourism Day was held at Myanmar International Convention Center (1) in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday.

Chairperson of the National Tourism Development Central Committee Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye attended the event and delivered a speech, calling for development of tourism industry, applying modern technologies and innovation.

The celebration featured screening of a video clips on World Tourism Day message, Myanmar tour packages and performance programs. Winners of commemorative competitions were also presented with awards.

This year’s World Tourism Day theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” highlights the growing role of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming the tourism sector.

The theme focuses on how digital tools and AI are reshaping travel planning, destination management and tourism industry operations. These technologies are increasingly being used to improve services, provide travelers with more personalized experiences and support more efficient management of tourism destinations.

The World Tourism Day observance provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of embracing technological innovation while ensuring that the development of tourism remains inclusive, sustainable and centered on people.
