Coffee Industry: Over 45 tons produced a year in Ngape Township area

There are 1,066 acres of Arabica upland coffee that adapts to tropical climates in Nat Lake in Ngape Township of Magway Region. The number of coffee plantation and production rate is on the increase every year, and depending on the coffee beans quality, a ton of coffee seeds can fetch 3 million Kyats to 5 million Kyats in Yenanchaung and Ywangan townships.

Local growers planted 40 acres of Arabica Vietnam coffee in the coffee plantation of Nat Lake, and 1,026 acres by private companies in mountainous villages. On the other hand, to get the good quality crops and dry them in a short time, a solar dryer system is being implemented in the area. In this rainy season, Department of Agriculture will distribute coffee saplings, coffee seeds and other shady trees saplings in the areas.

Nat Lake coffee farm and private plantations  produce 2.8 tons  and  43 tons respectively, totally over 45 tons per year and transport to markets in Ywangan, Yenanchaung and Pyin Oo Lwin townships as well as to Yangon.
