Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) : Acting President attended the opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) was held in the morning of February 16 at the bridge site near Htamanthi Village, Homalin Township, Sagaing Region. Acting President Chairman of State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended and inaugurated the bridge.

First, the Acting President SSPC Chairman, his wife, and members arrived at the ceremony venue, where they were warmly welcomed by officials, students, ethnic traditional dance troupes, drum and bugle corps, and local ethnic people. Subsequently, at an auspicious moment, SSPC Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers U Mya Tun Oo, U Min Naung, U Myo Thant, and Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw cut the ribbon to open the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi).

Afterwards, the Acting President SSPC Chairman pressed the button to unveil the commemorative plaque of the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) and sprinkled scented water. Following this, the SSPC Secretary and ceremony attendees also sprinkled scented water on the commemorative plaque.

The Union Minister for Construction then respectfully presented a souvenir commemorating the opening of the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) to the Acting President SSPC Chairman. The Acting President SSPC Chairman then presented cash awards to students and ethnic dance troupes.

Following this, the Acting President SSPC Chairman and members crossed the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) to inspect it and cordially greeted the local residents. Subsequently, the Acting President SSPC Chairman met with local residents who attended the bridge opening ceremony to support the event, inquired about their socio-economic conditions, and warmly greeted them.

It is reported that the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) is 2,628 feet long, is a reinforced concrete bridge type, and has a navigational clearance height of 40 feet.

The construction and opening of the Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) will greatly facilitate the socio-economic life and regional development of the people in Homalin District and the Naga Self-Administered Zone, enable faster transportation of local products, and contribute to the development of the education, health, and economic sectors, it’s reported.
