



Under the supervision of the Department of Highways of the Ministry of Construction, the construction of new roads, maintenance and upgrading works of the main highways across the country are being undertaken. During 2022-2023 fiscal year, it is targeted to undertake constructing new roads and upgrading tasks with more than 250 billion kyats of foreign loans.
Myint Oo, Chief Engineer (Civil), Department of Highways said "In 2022-2013 fiscal year, the new construction of roads and upgrading works will be undertaken by the Department of Highways with over 256.23 billion kyats of foreign loan. Out of the foreign loans, the department has planned to upgrade NgaThaingChaung-Gwa-Thandweroad, Mandalay-ThabeikKyin-Tagaung-Bhamo-Kahtaung road, Han MyitMoh-Aung Pan road and other highways with JICA loans of the poverty reduction projects. Monywa-YwaGyi-Kalewa road, Minbu-Ann-Sittweroad will be upgraded with the India’s loan. The Department will undertake the tasks meeting the set standards to complete within the target time in 2022-2023 fiscal year."
The Department of Highways is upgrading the roads from all over the country that can be used in any season and established a policy to increase standards of highways by 2% on a regular basis every year.
