The opening ceremony of an awareness and refresher training on the implementation of cooperative activities was held at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development on the morning of September 10.

Union Minister U Hla Moe attended the ceremony and delivered the opening address. In his opening address, Union Minister U Hla Moe stated that the training is intended for the department's officers and staff serving in the Cooperative Department, as well as officials from cooperative societies.

He emphasized the need to aim for achieving target yields when cultivating planned crops such as paddy, cotton, groundnut, and sunflower. He also highlighted the importance of properly forming Board of Directors (BOD) and members when reorganizing cooperative societies in accordance with the revised cooperative laws.

Furthermore, during the handover of executive committees at various levels of cooperative societies, the assets, cash balances, bank balances, accounts, and meeting minutes of the society should first be verified by the society's own auditor, then confirmed by the outgoing executive committee, re-examined and confirmed by the department, so that the new incoming executive committee can scrutinize and accept them.

He mentioned that while the Summer Paddy and Monsoon Paddy crop cultivation plans implemented by the cooperative sector since the 2022-2023 fiscal year have seen progress, the target yields have not yet been met.

Therefore, it is necessary to strive to achieve the target yields in the 2024-2025 Summer Paddy and 2025-2026 Monsoon Paddy plans. Additionally, the Union Minister urged the trainees to utilize the knowledge shared in the training in line with the motto of the National Defence and Security Council, "Let's Support Production to Bear Fruit for the State.”He encouraged them to strive diligently to ensure the systematic survival, development, and progress of cooperative societies in their respective townships of the regions and states and to work hard for the development of agriculture, livestock, and production industries, it’s reported.
