






Chief Minister of Sagaing Region, U Myat Kyaw, along with relevant officials, attended a field demonstration on the combined use of chemical and organic fertilizers on a one-acre plot of Aung Naing Toe paddy strain cultivated by local farmer Daw Naw Selar in Hommalin Township's Hommalin Ward in the morning of February 17.
Firstly, the Chief Minister and officials, together with local farmers, observed the demonstration plot of "Aung Naing Toe" paddy variety showcasing the combined application of chemical and organic fertilizers. They coordinated with relevant authorities to address necessary matters related to agricultural activities.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister, members of the Region Government, and Region-level departmental officials distributed input supplies, including chemical fertilizers, to the local farmers who attended the demonstration and cordially greeted them.
Next, the Chief Minister and officials arrived at an 8-acre "Athan " variety tea plantation owned by Daw Yi Yi Thein in Khaung Hkam Village, Hommalin Township.
There, they observed the local farmers picking tea leaves and, together with relevant officials, provided a mower to the farmers, coordinated necessary support, and warmly greeted them. Next, the Chief Minister and officials proceeded to inspect the construction site of an earthen embankment reservoir in Naung Ma Khan Village, Hommalin Township.
Funded by the Region Government's fund, the project aims to adequately supply irrigation water to 300 acres of farmland. The embankment is being constructed with a length of 450 feet, a height of 10 feet, and a top width of 12 feet.
They inspected the ongoing work and coordinated necessary actions with officials. Finally, the Chief Minister and officials visited Khaung Hkam Village in Hommalin Township to inspect the completed gravelling of a gravel and earth mix agricultural access road measuring 1 mile and 2 furlongs in length, 12 feet in width, and 9 inches thick. They coordinated with relevant officials regarding any further requirements, it’s reported.
