Agriculture and Livestock: Coffee Competition and Livestock Farm

Myanmar Coffee Association organized Coffee Quality Assessment Competition, and the winners were presented prizes at the ceremony, held in PyinOoLwin on 28th May.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo said the government is supporting for Myanma coffee as a value-added crop, and efforts are being made for boosting production and market penetration.

He urged the coffee farmers and entrepreneurs to make efforts for producing quality coffee brand which can gain good market demand. 26 entrepreneurs took part in the competition with 49 coffee brands.

The assessment has been made by two foreign experts and 3 locals. Entrepreneurs from PinLaung, YwaNgan, HoPone, PyinOoLwin and NaungCho won the prizes for specialty coffee.

The Union Minister and party later visited PyinOoLwin Coffee Park, and viewed the displays on the history of Myanma coffee, data of coffee species, coffee shops and plantations.

The Union Minister and party later proceeded to December cow breeding farm and viewed the production of dairy products. The Union Minister urged for producing quality products and discussed to implement the tourism based on agriculture and live stock breeding.
