



Myanmar will mark 73rd Anniversary Martyrs’ Day Celebration on 19th July.
Martyrs' Day ceremony is held annually to keep alive the memories of the fallen martyrs including national leader General Aung San who sacrificed their lives, blood and sweat and were assassinated on 19 July 1947 while they were striving for national independence.
This year, Martyrs’ Day celebration will be held in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports to prevent from COVID-19 disease, according to the Vice-Chairman of Organizing Sub-Committee for State Flag Hoisting and Saluting Ceremony at the secretariat said.
Vice Chairman, Flag Hoisting and Saluting Organizing Sub-Committee (the Secretariat), U Than said “In previous year, over 700 attendees including Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee, Yangon Mayor, students and people attended the Flag Hoisting and Saluting Ceremony at the secretariat. This year, only 68 people are allowed to attend the Ceremony in line with the health instructions to prevent COVID-19 disease. The public access to meeting room where the martyrs were assassinated at the Secretariat and the parliamentary meeting hall will not be allowed this year.”
Although the public access to BogyokeAung San museums in Yangon and Natmauk will not be allowed because of COVID-19 pandemic this year, preparations are being made to be able to observe the displays of the museums through online exhibition for the public, the Director-General of the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library said.
Director General, Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library, KyawOoLwin said “We are making arrangements to display online exhibition for Bogyoke Aung San Museums in Yangon and Natmauk this year to avoid mass gathering. There are 165 items at the Bogyoke Aung San Museum in Nat Mauk and 265 items including furniture, utensils, clothes and 240 books that were read by Bogyoke in the museum in Yangon. We will display all these items, the rare photos, speeches of BogyokeAung San among others to be able to observe for the people with photos, documentary, videos and VR system through online exhibition like they are in there.”
According to the Director-General of the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library, they are now drawing webpage and facebook page for the online exhibition and they are planning to display the exhibition on online on 12th July one week in advance before the celebration day in line with the permission of the Central Committee for organizing the 73rd Anniversary Martyrs’ Day.
