Information Sector: Union Minister makes inspections

Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin urged officers and staff to systematically document the traditional cultures, customs, unique local socioeconomic businesses of ethnic groups, and regional development affairs, noting that Shan State is home to not only the Shan people but a diverse union of ethnic brethren.

It’s during a meeting with officers and staff from departments and enterprises under the ministry on the morning of September 1 at the Community Centre of the Information and Public Relations Department in Taunggyi. At the meeting, the Union Minister presented foodstuffs and cash awards to the staff.

Following the meeting, he inspected the display of traditional ethnic artifacts, the systematic preservation of books and publications in the library, and the mobile library vehicle at the Community Centre. In the afternoon, he inspected the Information and Public Relations Department office in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone (Hopong).

He instructed the staff to actively and sincerely strive to work on community-based information services that genuinely benefit the public, before providing them with foodstuffs and cash awards. Then, he inspected the display of traditional ethnic items in the office's local mini-museum, as well as the public library.

Additionally, the Union Minister inspected the operations of the Myanma Radio and Television retransmission station in Taunggyi including the relaying of television and radio programs and the installation of technical equipment, and provided guidance on operational matters.
