Flood Warning: Rising river water levels in Minkin, Monywa and Kalay

The water level of the Chindwin River at Minkin was observed at about 3 feet 4 inches below its danger level at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and is forecast to reach the danger level within the next 24 hours, according to the latest hydrological observation. Meanwhile, the water level of the Chindwin River at Monywa was recorded at about 4 feet 10 inches below its danger level.

The level is expected to reach the danger mark within the next two days. The water level of the Myittha River at Kalay was also observed at 4 feet 5 inches below its danger level and is forecast to reach the danger level within the next day. People living along riverbanks and in low-lying areas of Minkin, Monywa and Kalay townships have been urged to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures. Residents are advised to move away from flood-prone areas in a timely manner if the water levels continue to rise.
